what is bright yellow that comes out of your stomach when you throw up

My daughter has been throwing up on average about ever 40 minutes. The first 7-8 times it was food she had eaten. Then it became clear and now she is throwing up a yellow substance. Can you please tell me if this is something that I need to worry about?

I'm sorry your little one is ill.
It sounds like shes bring up bile as her stomach is empty.
I would take her to the doctors if she is being sick that frequently.
Hope she gets better soon.

I'd take her to the ER actually...she could get dangerously dehydrated. Really could use some IV fluids if she's that sick.

Thanks so much for your replies. It helps when there are other parents out there with some knowledge of the same situations. I hate to see her so sick. I did take her to the doctor this morning. They said it was the stomach virus and she was also running a 101 temperature. Gave her nausea medicine and some lomotil. She has pretty much slept all day.
