What is bluetooth software and so I need it in order to update my firmware?

I'm confused! I have never hooked up my BlueAnt Z9i bluetooth up to my computer using a USB port. But when I went to see if there were any updates for my firmware for the first time I was asked what bluetooth program I am using! So I'm lost and hope someone can explain it to me or at least give me suggestions on what I need to do. Anything thing at all is greatly appreciated! Thank You
