what is bluetooth and wifi?

ok so im buying a new cell phone n im not much of a cell phone person so i dont know much...My cell phone comes with a Bluetooth headset. What is this headset for? my other question is my cell phone has wifi connectivity which is mainly what i want becuz im on campus in university n there is internet everywhere so whats the difference between wifi connecitivty and blue tooth?>
