The Eris is a much better phone, because it is based on the Android operating system.
22,000+ apps available, growing at over 3000/month, 2/3 of them are free. New updates coming out every few months from Google with new features and functionality. Free turn-by-turn navigation will be coming to the Eris in the next month. Verizon locks out GPS on windows mobile phones, not on Android.
Windows mobile is an old, out-dated, kludge of an operating system that is loosing market share extremely rapidly, while Android is gaining market share at a phenomenal rate. By 2012 most market analysts expect Android handsets to be outselling every other smart phone on the market world-wide, except Symbian, which can barely be called a "smart" phone. Even Apples ipod (now #3) and Blackberry (now #2) will be eclipsed by Android sales.
