Okay, so here's my question. I'm going into Job Corps to learn a little about a trade. For those who don't know what Job Corps is, it is a program that you can enter to learn particular trades, they pay for everything while you're in and almost guarantee a career when you get out. If you choose to go to school afterword, which is what I'm planning on doing, they pay for college expenses. I intend to go to college to get a degree in something better, like Counseling, but I would rather stick with a bachelors than a Masters because of the time it would take for me to achieve one.
I have a wife now and I want a career that will make money enough to support a family and to give us a good life. I'm hoping for a house with at least one car, I've got a friend who says if you're not making at least 100 thousand a year, then you can't really afford a house, a car, and a family all together. I would most likely rent, though.
Another question I have is what careers could I have with a bachelors, but I don't know. I know I can't get a whole lot on just an associates degree. However, if I go into Job Corps, I don't have a really good sense of taste, so Culinary Arts MAY not be for me. Yet I know also that Electricians require a lot of math, I am not very good at math, so I might not be very good with that either, I am not sure. So what's left out of the courses the particular campus I'm going? These:
* Brick Mason
* Business Office Assistant/Accounting
* Carpentry
* Cement Mason
* Culinary Arts
* Electrical
* Facility Maintenance
* Glazing
* Painting
* Security
* Welding
So which of those would be best, if not Electrician or Culinary Arts? So in short, my basic questions are these:
1. Would an Electrician or Culinary Arts be better?
2. Seeing as how Math isn't my best trait and I don't have a good sense of smell/taste, would Electrician or Culinary arts be good for me at all?
3. If not those two, which of the other careers would be better?
4. What are some good careers I'd make with a bachelor's degree?
5. I have 1 year of college behind me already, if I go back to school, it would be 3 years for a bachelors and 5 for a major. With a wife, a job, and perhaps eventually wanting to start a family, would it be better for me to shoot for a bachelor or a major degree? I would think Bachelor, but I'm not 100% positive.
