What is better a i5 duel 2.66ghz (turbo boost 3.33ghz) or a i7 quad 1.73ghz(turbo

I do a lot of movie editing and photo editing and i understand that a quad would be better but i was also wondering seeing as i am abit of a game nut and think there is nithin better then siting down and shouting the hell out of some zombies and dont know if a the i5 or i7 is beter for that. so was wondering would i be able to play games like left 4 dead ,half-life 2 ep.1 and other games like that ? and what one would be better
