What is best for Anxiety these days?

I take Prozac and the occasional Klonopin. I'm still a stress mess, and I feel socially disassociated most of the time. It really is hard.

What is the best SSRI for anxiety?
Is Klonopin a good idea?
Are there new anxiety meRAB?

there is no one specific best. all effect people differently. klonopin helps yeah, just make sure you have a competent doc that knows how to properly take klonopin away from you. nothing terribly new.

anyone who will answer you about this will have the same response. We can only tell you what has aided us the best. In my case.

5mg's of lexapro 1 x day
1000 mgs of Depakote ER 1 x day
1mg xanax XR x 2 day (until lexapro kicked in) then i was slowly weaned off without any withdrawal ! :)

the most important thing is, once you find what works for you... DO NOT QUIT when you feel like your old self. Which in time is likely. Good luck, and hold on.
 
Lexapro is great for social anxiety...i used to take it and it made me a different person. You would never had known that I had social anxiety. I stopped taking it only because I didn't think I needed it anymore..I thought I LEARNED from it and I thought I could function and be "social" without nervousness without it....Well, I was wrong..I am going to look for it again and start taking it.
I also take Lorazepam which is similar to your klonipin...the mixture of the Lexapro and the Lorazepam was a good corabination for me - also a "stress mess". I liked that!
 
Lexapro or Zoloft are probably the best of the SSRI's, though different individuals respond differently. Note that the "standard" dose (10mg of lexapro or 50mg of Zoloft isnt enough for everyone, some people need a double dose)

The benzodiazepine tranquilizers (Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Klonopin) are extremely effective, but can lose their effectiveness over time, and are habit forming if used daily.

Atarax has been found to be helpful for some people as a replacement for the benzodiazepaines, it isnt habit forming.

Buspar is a slow acting anti anxiety drug that neeRAB to be taken every day in order to be effective, it isnt habit forming and some patients find it very usefull.
