We are writing a 6-7 page paper in my World History class. I need a topic and I need ideas. The topic needs to be some sort of innovation in history that had a very big impact. Some examples are medicine and weapons. I am drawing a blank here. I want a topic that would be interesting and would have a lot of information available. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

To the first answer, I would add railways (British) and steam power generally.

The jet engine (Frank Whittle, British)

Tanks (British)

Penicillin (British)
