What is an effective way of studying? ?

No matter how much I study, I dont get the grade I deserve! For example, I practice math problems over and over, and the day of the test, I forget how to do them or just forget overall, and I end up in the 50's or 60's. for english, when we get quizzed on the chapter we read the night before, I read, and go over on sparknotes to make sure I understand the material. I also fill out the worksheet w/ questions on it. then, i end up forgeting also what happens in the chapter, even after reviewing the period before!flash cards dont help either, and nothing does. I have midterms in 1 week and a very important math regents coming up. How do you study/get good grades? any methods?any answers would be greatly appriciated!
 
Try doing something creative, like in math if you were doing fractions make pie and cut it into halves :D Oh and telling someone else what you learned (Teaching someone else) helps you remember it better.
 
find something important to you and icorporate it into that.For example, music is very influential in my life, so i usually put tricky math formulas and how to solve them into song.y=mx+b,easy as it possibly can be,find the slope,y2-y1it's only just begun.substitute the slope for m....now get the b by looking at the graph,where the line crosses the y axisis the b......and so on.the song's a little long...
