I need a campsite in Florida. It has to be in central, northern, or western Florida, not southern. I would prefer a campsite where there aren't many RV's, near water where I could rent a canoe, toilet(although fine without toilets), without having like concession stands or swimming pools. I want somewhere that me and my friends could go, pitch our own tent out away from other campers as much as possible, play/canoe in water, maybe hike, then comeback and make a fire and smores.
I have been researching a lot but i have yet to find campsite that has all of these things or the website is very unclear about how close campers are to one another or how real the camping experience is. What I really need are some first-hand descriptions about the campgrounds and what it's like. This would be soooo much appreciated!!!!
also, in National Forests, can you pretty much just pitch your own tent anywhere, or does it have to be on a campsite?
