many people told me to join aau for basketball, but i dont know what it is. i also herad that you can find college scouts there. could someone please explain?

AAU basketball is like a national league for players with high potential. You travel the country and play in tournaments with the best high school players in the country and that's where NBA and college scouts go to assess talent.

i wasnt in it but a bunch of my friends were. google it.
its a select team of players with more basketball talents than others. they play other aau teams. you can find scouts there, they know the players have skills and its good hunting grounds.

AAU = Amateur Athletic Union. It's a league for typically school aged kids, but not affiliated with a school or a church (often schools have teams as well, there is also "CYO" (Catholic Youth Organization) which sponsors leagues, and many Jewish community centers and YMCA's also sponsor teams/leagues).

Check http://www.aauboysbasketball.org/ for boys and http://www.aaugirlsbasketball.org/ for girls. You should be able to find local teams in your area if you look there.

AAU is a very competitive league, in general, so I would not be at all surprised to find college scouts at games.

Good luck!

its like a nation wide league thing. and a wholee bunch of scouts watch your games and all. its really great if you're team is good.
