My cousin got a job in a rehabilitation center (I don't know what her title is exactly, I never really see her, it's just hearsay around the family - we all aren't very close) and her hours are 12pm - 7am or 8am I think. Her main task is to make sure the center is sound at night and resolve problems that arise during the night with patients. She's had to readjust her entire schedule - she has to get herself to sleep at about 10am and sleeps till 6pm. While most people get up and go directly to work and have a few hours to spare when they come home, she has her main free time before she goes to work. What is a nocturnal lifestyle like? Is it unhealthy for humans to work like that, or does your biological clock readjust and your body goes on as normal? Does it have something to do with sunlight?

I like it. Working overnight is my favorite shift. I worked at a homeless shelter overnight and it was awesome. You work while everyone else is sleeping and everything is closed... Go home and sleep for a while and then have all day to yourself! I used to get out at 7:30 get home at about 8 or 8:30 and sleep until about 1 or 2 and just hang out until I had to go to work.

Working the first shift sucks IMO. 9-5, mon-fri is what people typically think when working first shift... You have to go to bed really early every night, and then wake up and go to work immediately. When you get out, a lot of things are closed, and then a ton of things are closed on weekends too. When I was doing first shift it was a pain in the neck to get to my bank >_< I was working 10am-7pm. It was awful. Wake up super early, leave for 9 to catch the bus, and then the train, and be at work for 10. Get out at 7, catch the train, then the bus, then walk home. I'd get home at 8. So then you have time to shower, eat and then it's almost time for bed again. Terrible.

2nd shift sucks too IMO, You wake up and have to get everything done early on in the day to prepare for work, and you go to work for 3usually on 2nd shift, work til 11... I don't even need to explain why that one is terrible lol.

So 3rd shift is best if you ask me. Some people just aren't cut out for it, they just function better in the morning.
