I would buy different ammo a box at a time. Every gun is different and one brand or type may not function well in your gun. Likewise one may function very well,this brand and type you want to stock up on. If you don't have one you will need a cleaning kit.
You may want to take a NRA pistol course,they offer woman only classes.

And believe it or not -- Walmart! They have this whitebox stuff (Winchester I think?) thats $8.95 for a box of 50..... I buy from J&G in bulk but when I run out I pick a few boxes up from Walmart and it performs well......

Hands down....Your local Walmart will be cheaper than any mail-order ammo.
Im in houston right now, and Walmart on ST HWY 6, 3 miles south of I-10, has the 100 round Winchester White Box at 16.67.
I just got 1000 rounds for 179 with tax.
Once you add shipping, you will not be able to beat that, unless you are buying steel cased garbage, and I still dont think its that cheap anymore.

There are few rules that I follow.
1. Never buy a watch that isn't running when you pay for it
2. Never buy ammo from a place where you can't try it out.
If this is a new gun and you are new to guns, take an NRA safety course FIRST. Then buy a few rounds from a place that has a range so that you give them a test drive.
You don't need an arsenal. You should buy enough ammo for your use. I never liked having too much ammo laying around for too long. I treat it as though it has a shelf life. That gives you an awesome excuse to go the range occasionally and sqeeze off a few rounds!

outdoorsportsmen.com also try local pawn shops but NEVER buy reloads unless you know the person that reloaded it.
