rescuing a chihuahua!

besides chihuahua's. i just LOVE dogs, and my mom is getting me one in 6 weeks, if all goes well, and i take care of her, i am going to ask for another small dog, hopefully she'll say yes! anyway what is a good small dog breed besides:
beagle- mom said no
dachshund- mom said no
Caviler King Charles Spaniel- a very heart problem prone dog
i have school from 8-4
i will offer 2 20 minute walks per day
i will be getting ADULTS from shelters
i have two cats
i will have plenty of time for playing and training
about 3x per week grooming
i am already getting a Chihuahua in 6 weeks just to clarify!
