If you like to text, surf the web, use email and money isn't a problem you could always get the blackberry tour. it's one of the best phone I ever used, but it's only if your willing to pay for the data plan.
You can always get the storm too, it recently lowered the price to $99 but i wouldn't get it. You need a data plan for that too.
You could always get some messaging phones like the enV3. it's only $79.99 with contract. it's 30 dollars more than the enV2 but it's worth it. and it came out like the beginning of summer.
But if you want a touch screen phone you should probably get the enV touch. it has a full qwerty keyboard too and a touch screen! for only $149 with a two year contract
I recommend you stay away from phones like the Omnia, which is a great phone, but it runs on windows mobile 6.1, which is known to be slow and not that stable compare to other phone OS
