I want to subscribe to a general news magazine, something like Time and such, and also around the same price range, but I don't know which one. I've been thinking of Newsweek or Time, but I'm not sure....
I've been subscribing to Newsweek forever. They have a good staff of reporters, and their columnists on the back page (Quinlan, Will) are always worth reading -- even when they disagree with each other. Good political columnists too.
Time is probably a bit more conservative on the spectrum, but still does a good job. You probably can't go too far wrong reading either one of them.
I wouldn't make either your absolutely only source for news, but that applies to anything.
The best thing for you to pick is none. News industry is there just to make money but many consumers, like you and me, think that those news magazines will enlighten us but that's not true whatsoever. They're biased in all sort or way and if you want to waste money on things that would actually make you dumber then I say you should just blindfold yourself and pick a magazine name out of the hat, but if you what to be enlightened and informed then I say you buy none. Do your own research if you don't believe me.
