What is a good gaming laptop in the price range of 600-1400?

ive been searching alot of laptops recently because im in the market to buy but i cant quite decide which to pick. i would like a gaming laptop but its tough to choose. i would like to have an intel core i7 processor but usually those are on the upper side of my price range (as in an xps) but from what ive seen, alienware seem to make good gaming laptops, the problem is that the one that i think would be best for me (m11x) runs on a core 2 processor if i want it to be in my price range. any advice on which one i should get or any other suggestions? please and thanks
