What is a good first hand gun to buy?

Just got my license and am looking at handguns. Money is not an object. I want something that will appreciate in value over time, heirloom quality, and is good for target shooting. Unlikely to use this for self defense. Mainly used at gun clubs and shooting gallerys. This will be my first hand gun. Any suggestions are appreciated.
 
If you are lookin for a auto check out the new line of Springfield XD-M's, I love em, 19 Plus 1 of 9mm. 16 plus one in 40..
 
Chrome Dessert Eagle with the 10" barrel . I love this gun. Best I ever had. About $1,200.
