What is a good first car for a 16 year old?

I'm 15 but I turn 16 in about 4 months and want start thinking about cars and trying to get my learners permit on my birthday. I have always wanted a Ford Mustang but I heard since its a sports car insurance will be really high. Price range would be anywhere from $1000-10,000. What is a good reliable car that has good MPG? Thanks
Also what model?
 
TL..Two Legs...heheehe jk get a toyota. its reliable and you wont have maintanence problems. you can save that money for something else, like gas.
