What is a good Film Point and Shoot Camera for someone interested in beginning...

...Photography ? ...it's amateur, hobby type of thing...so an SLR isn't really in the question or price range.

I want a good film point and shoot camera that can take pictures comparable to an SLR

Also, is it even possible to begin photography with a good point and shoot film camera over an SLR?
