What is a good civilization-like diplomatic strategy game?

I am looking for a very strategic, and very diplomatic game. I enjoy the complex strategies of the Total War series, but they lack the diplomatic aspects of the game. Europa Universalis III was much better in that aspect, but not very good in the wartime strategies.

Civilization IV kept me entertained for a while, but it is still weak in the diplomatic aspects (even its predacessor Alpha Centauri had more to offer in that field). Galactic Civilizations II and Sins of a Solar Empire were my next options, but I am not too thrilled from the gameplay videos.

Any gamers out there with ideas for my next game?
