So I am looking to peruse photography. I don't know pretty much anything about cameras and have only used the typical digital camera but I am looking to upgrade to a more professional camera. So that I can take professional like cameras. I know i am going to be spending around 500-700ish which is a bit of money but as long as i can find a good camera i am will to spend it. But i am absolutely lost and dont know where to start. I am not sure what type of features i should be looking for. If i should go Canon or Nikon. Help! Pleas

Go to the store and hold each camera. Buy the one that feels right in your hands. With either Canon or Nikon you can build a collection of lenses over the years that will work from one DSLR to the next. When you are ready for the high end camera body you will already have all the accessories.

First, you will need to take a class in photography, so which type camera you buy will depend upon the camera required to take the class. I may be a 35 mm SLR with standard zoom lens, under $150. Or it may be you will need an entry level DSLR, under $450 with standard zoom lens. Don't buy until you know.

Nikon and Canon are the systems used by the pros and thus have the most current and used lenses available as you expand your system
