Truck quit running and smell of hot wires (or something).
Have checked all wires and replaced several parts--coil, dist, dist cap, rotor button, spark plug wires, module on fender well.
A fusible link is basically a fuse or section of wire designed to burn out if there is a current overload.
Truck quit because the link burned & opened a circuit which is what you smelled.
Best regards
A fusible link is a wire that is only capable of carrying a set amount of current they are designed to melt/break the same as a fuse when the electrical system it is line for is drawing to much current, normally the link blows due to a short or overload in that particular electrical circuit,so don't just replace it and forget make sure you or an auto electrician investigates why it blew and yes it could be just due to corrosion.good luck.
i just had an issue with my f 150. i was driving down the road and it just quit. i looked under the hood and found a junction box, with one wire corroded off. these wires were for the fuel pump. These wires are on the drivers side, i don't know if this is the problem, but it could be. another problem could be your fuel pump is shot.
