My 92' Lexus LS400 "Check" engine light comes up last week. Short the diagnostic wire, count the blink and located the code from owner's manual.
It was 72 -- which means the EGR temp sensor was bad -- may be, I don't know.

Dealer ask that part for $200 + because there are no on-line store carries this part. The car still can drive normally but it won't pass the smoke check test. Question is can I replaced with a part from junk yard? Or any method such as "cleaning the carbon deposit" will cure this problem?

Thank you.

EGR gas temp sensor tells the computer that the EGR system is working from the rise of exhaust temperature when the valve opens.
Yes you can get a good used one.Cleaning will not help, since it is not bad due to carbon,it is internal electrical problem.
