have heard "Chick flicks" are same as "Dramatic comedies"? why is this and how true?

what really is a "Drama"? and how different or similar to a "Dramatic comedy"? what do dramatic comedies often have in them too and why "chicks" find this more interesting or not? or why people who think that think that?
