What is a difference between droid and android?

What is the main difference between droid and android?
All i know is that these two terms are used with cell phones generally... Not much sure about the main difference???
 
There is no different - 'Droid' is a shortened form of 'Android'.
I believe that the term was first coined in the original Star Wars movie.
