The War on Terror (a bit of a solecism, but never mind) - that's going to drag on forever.

You could then do the causes - attacks in Nairobi/Dar-Es Salam, WTC, London Underground network, Madrid etc. and the response fighting the Taeban overthrow of Saddam Hussein (is it really related ) etc etc.
