...Scholarships? I was just curious from the general public about the question.
After I graduated from high school I wanted to go to college. But, I had no funds of paying for it and I also had no idea of how scholarship system worked. So, I turned to the direction of the military to pay for my college. Not only that but I didn't take high school that serious. So, I figure that the military would help me become more mature. Something that will help me do well in college once I get out of the military.
I have been in the United States Navy for more than 2 years now and I really have the desire to go continue with my education. I fully paid off my payments of the GI Bill (plus the extra $600 for the buy-up option). So, now I am guarantee to receive my GI Bill once I finish up my term with an honorable discharge.
I have a girlfriend that is attending in college right now with a fully paid scholarship. It hit me that there are scholarships out there that fully pay off for books, classes, boarding and etc.
Sometimes I feel that perhaps I didn't really need to rely on the military to pay off for my schooling since there are scholarships that fully pay for your education. But, then again at the time that I graduated from high school I had no idea of how the scholarship system worked. I had no one to help me out in the area.
I just want to know if anyone could explain to me the advantages and disadvantages of a scholarship and the Montgomery GI Bill (for those who are using it). I would also want to know your opinion of whether you think it's better to pay for college with financial aid, Montgomery GI Bill or scholarships?
Thanks
