I'm looking for a new camera and have it down to 2 choices (unless someone can recommend a better one under US$200.) Both are about the same price, and from what I've seen have positive reviews. I'm leaning towards the Panasonic because it has 8x optical zoom as opposed to the Canon's 4x, however I know Canon is a reliable brand and the design is a little sleeker. If anyone has experience with either please let me know.
This camera will just be for everyday use....vacations, sporting events, family, etc.
Normally this would be a no-brainer to go with the Canon because they always put out quality cameras. HOWEVER, after reading several reviews (professional and user reviews), the Panasonic seems comparable in delivering a quality final product (ie a good looking picture). The Panasonic also has the 8x zoom as opposed to Canon's 4x, which I REALLY like having more than 4x zoom. So please comment only if you have experience with these particular models (not just brands). I'm well aware of the brands reputations.
