Here's what happened...
A couple of days ago, I got a ticket in the mail for running a red light. It was for my old car. I got rid of this car in NOVEMBER.
Which means they never transferred the title out of my name. So they never put the car in the dealerships name and they just recently sold it, and still have not put it in the new buyer's name. The new buyer bought the car over a month ago.
I went down to the dealership and they assured me it is NOW in the new owner's name. I traced the license plate to make sure and realized it is NOT in the new dealer's name, it is STILL in MY name. This is a huge hassle. Now, I have to prove I no longer have the car to make myself exempt from the ticket and I need to go to the DMV to prove to them I am not the owner.
My question is- what can I do about this? I am not looking to sue, but I am looking to use a little leverage against the dealership. I want to get something out of all this because it has been SUCH a hassle. What are my rights?
