...staying put in Stalingrad? and was capturing Stalingrad part of the original plans in "Operation Barbarrossa"? was this city really that important to "Capture" ? (especially since all industries, buildings had pretty much been destroyed and the Germans had reached the Volga with heavy tanks ,etc)
please explain why Hitler and his generals decided that it was so important (surely it isnt true that this was only for the symbolism of the city )
what they could have done differently and why this would have been better? did Hitler's mistake decision to make the 6th army STAY put in Stalingrad cost Germany the war or would they have lost anyways by this time?
