What high protein and calorie vegetarian snacks (and other snacks) should I

bring for hiking? I'm hoping to hike the Appalachian Trail, maybe next year (or the next), for 3 or 4 days. Just to try it out. But later on, I'd like to do the whole thing, which apparently takes 5 to 7 months.

I started a list of food and so far I have: nuts (peanuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, cashews, almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans, etc.), dried fruits (raisins, cranberries, bananas, apricots, blueberries, apple rings, figs, dates, blackberries, cantaloupe, plums, etc.)

But what other easy to carry, non perishable foods should I bring, or buy at the resupply stations, while hiking?
