What has been in my garden?!?

Left couple of bits of poo, uncovered, in long grass at side of lawn and small patches of digging on lawn, like something with long claws.
Have no dogs in area, few cats, but they hate smell of the poo. Many hedgehogs and a squirrel, but poo too big for them.
Live in Yorkshire, England. Thinking fox or badger, but what other signs do I need to look for?

Lift a section of your lawn away with a spade ---about an in depth.
If you see ugly, white grubs with a brown head, half-curled, then you have an infestation of chafer grubs which are very common.
Foxes love them and will dig them out and ruin your lawn while doing so.
