My mother-in-law will not leave me alone. Me, my husband and young son used to live next to my mother-in-law in their rental house. Well, after 5 years of taking verbal abuse, and them controlling us we finally decided to move. We paid last months rent and gave them notice, and they gave us 10 days to move out. Well, since then we moved out, and did not tell them where we moved to. They found out, and sent us a text letting us know that they know where we live. I have been getting tons of texts from both my mother-in-law and father-in-law and some were threatening like for example, my father-in-law said he was going to come to my house... then my mother-in-law told me to come to her house so that she could show me "who's bad" I just tell her "please quit contacting me" well, she then will call and call and call both me and my husband. I finally got tired of it last night when my mother-in-law didn't stop texting us till 3am. So I called the police and they came and filled out a report. They told me that they had to send paper work off, then when I get he paper work back that I can take it in and see if I can get a harassment warrant on both. What happens if I do this? I know they will probably go to jail until they meet their bond, or until the court date. What can I expect in court?
