What happens when you get a speeding ticket? do you have to go to court?

My boyfriend got a ticket for "speeding" he never does that and he does not know if the officer was right. He does not have a driver's license, So he got 2 tickets but with no amount $$$ he was told to call on 2 weeks to find out on how much the tickets where.

In court you can protest the ticket and try to get the judge to cancel it
