car accident? Does anyone know what happens to say ---- your purse --- when you're involved in a major car accident where they rush you to "trauma" - is it generally taken with you to the hospital or left with your smashed up car or what is the general procedure?

If it is easily accessible, your purse is usually grabbed by the medical personnell in order to provide information if you are unconscious. They will not go "searching" for personal items, they are there to assist the injured.

All other personal effects are usually left in the vehicle, it is usually towed and locked in a secure lot. If you do not know where your vehicle is being stored, contact the officer that reported to the accident for that information.

I have had 2 major accidents either 2 things can happen
#1 they take it in the ambulance with you to the hospital if you are taken in?
#2 they leave personal items in the car so it would be at the wrecking yard where ever it was towed too.

Usually your items are left in your smashed up car. Your insurance company will tell you to go to your car or have someone else go and pick up your items out of the car.

Call your auto insurance company ASAP.
