In situations where the police know that a person is missing or murdered or that a robbery has been committed, but have few or no clues and someone comes forward to confess to a particular crime, what happens to the one confessing? In my question it is a given that the one confessing is not a chronic confessor or nut case.
What happens to people who confess to unsolved crimes?
