What happens to all the average college students who want degrees and professional jobs?

I only ever hear of stellar, straight-A students achieving their goals and acquiring that dream job. Obviously, not everyone can be at the top of their class and though we're encouraged and have that mindset to be the very best, what happens when you're not? Do the people who graduate in the middle or at the bottom of their class find jobs? Are there average-student doctors? Lawyers? Accountants? Psychologists? Programmers? Geologists? Is it even possible to obtain degrees if you get Cs and Bs? I know average grades don't necessarily translate to just average skill, but will that even matter or will average students just get passed over for stellar students?

I'm doing my general education requirements and I got a C in two of my classes. I feel like a complete failure and that I'll never amount to anything... Yet I somehow think that there's something wrong with feeling that way. Is there hope?
