What happens if McCain dies between now and the election?

Does Gov. Palin become the party's nominee? Or does the party choose another candidate?
 
If it happens, I'm sure Sarah Palin will win the nomination for president and a wave of sympathy would bring her towards the white house. She might even choose Cindy McCain as VP.
