I enrolled onto a Sports Coaching course at the University of Derby Buxton (started september 2011) 3 weeks ago i quit the course as i didn't enjoy it and i hated the university campus. I had applied for student finance and had already received my first installment at the end of september which paid for accommodation fees and tuition fees at the end of october.
When i quit i was told that some of the money would be re-payed back to me as i hadn't stayed for the full semester, however i received a letter a couple of days ago stating that i was due to pay my next lot of tuition fees at the end of January 2012 even though i wasn't enrolled at the university anymore.
I rang the uni and they claimed it was Student Finance demanding the money not the University.....i then rang Student Finance who said they had cancelled my finance at the end of november so i had nothing to pay to them...so it was the university asking for the money.
My question is...what would happen if i didn't pay the fees? They are asking for nearly ?1800 which i definitely cant afford to pay as i am still searching for a job!! Would it affect my credit rating or my chances of reapplying for university next September?
