What happens if a military member lies to their chain of command?

There is a person who lied to his NCO's and his commander. He hasn't been supporting his family since he has reported to his duty station (almost a month ago). He has lied and said he has, but they have the proof that he hasn't. He also lied to them telling them that he needed to get his family from home, and they gave him a break in his job to pick up his family, but he was really in Virginia visiting with another female. His chain of command now knows that his family was never coming and knows the truth about where he was. His ssg stated that he will get into trouble. What can they possibly do to him for what he has done?
He has not been at his duty station for a full month, and he has been lying to his chain of command. It has been more then just what I mentioned. They have proof of some things he has been lying about.
