What happened to The Weather Channel being 24/7 Weather News?

When did they start showing movies? I can understand March of the Penguins but Misery. It was good for a laugh or scare...are news and weather a thing of the past? I miss Ted Turner CNN. Now it's all showbiz and entertainment. Do I need to upgrade and continue to feed the goldmine of cable to get my news and weather?!
