What happened to the female singer/songwriters of the 90's?

Sarah McClachlan: Dropped out of sight after the last Lilith Fair tour in 99' to have a baby, then finally released a new CD two years ago that didn't exactly set the world on fire.

Jewel: Just released a new CD. Her last one before that, the Britney Spears type pop music one, pretty much sucked.

Paula Cole: Hasn't released a new CD since 99'.

Fiona Apple: Just put out a new CD, the first new music from her in almost 7 years.

Sheryl Crow: Seems to be one of the few who still is going strong, and putting out good music.

Tori Amos and Alanis Morrisette: Both haven't had a hit in a few years, but are still putting out quality music.

Meredith Brooks, Shawn Colvin, and Lisa Loeb: All three have completely dropped off the face of the Earth, seemingly.

Any others I'm missing?

check out the new Katharine Whalen album - 'dirty little secret'. she'e the singer from squirrel nut zippers - her 1st album was pretty much all jazz but the new one is more electronic - pretty cool IMO

I saw Jewel on a David Letterman show a while back and I was blown away by her vocals. She sang the the first part acapela (sp?) and her voice was soft and high. It was absolutly amazing to hear how much contorl she had over her voice.

I've never been a huge fan of her work...more an occasional fan but I gotta say, that was simply astounding.

I own every single one of her CRAB... even her bootlegs...

I went to see her in concert last night...

She's STILL incredible...

I had a girl friend a long time ago that got me into her (not my normal music style) and I got to say the she is a great song writer and a great guitar player. I think I saw her 4 or 5 times. Kind of lost track of her after up up up - didn't really like it.
