my 1986 mazda B2000 just this morning would not give heat, when i looked at the temp gauge it was overheating. then the heat came on and it was still overheating. When i turned off the heat the temp returned to normal. When i look under the hood, coolant was on the half the engine and i was unable to tell where it was comming from. it was not near the resivore, but on the other side. There was coolant in the raditor.

the reason why you didn't have heat is because the coolant was not circulating through the heater core inside the truck because of the leak. which is also why you were overheating. most likely something is clogged and the pressure built up and caused the leak. first fix the leak the take it to go get a coolant flush to remove any thing that might be cause i the clog.
