what happened to livs' parents in Bride Wars?

Liv says "i wish they could be here..they couldn't even see me graduate..."
then emma says "your parents would have been so proud"..or something like that..
 
I'm assuming they died. She says they never got to see her graduate from law school and Nate gives her away at the wedding, hinting that he's the closest family she has. I'm assuming they died while she was in or starting university, maybe high school.
 
this movie was rlly good. i wish i had a chilhood friend like tht. one tht we have a dream of getting married in the same place. like liv and emma.
