What Guitar Scales Should I Learn To make My own Riffs And Solos?

I Can cover Many Songs From bands like Soundgarden, alice in chains, tool, queens of the stone age, kyuss, nirvana, ect. But when It comes to making my own riffs and Solos, I struggle. I've Heard I should learn scales? if so, What scales Should I learn? Should I learn Them? Is It Worth It? Do most People? Where Can I learn Them? PLEASE HELP
