I just graduated with a 3.0gpa in History. My ultimate goal is to work for the Smithsonian or the Department of the Interior in some form. I've been told that it is far fetched based on my GPA, BUT for now what program should I apply for in order to accomplish this goal. Museum Studies? History? Art History?
The type of job that I want is to put my hands on history. I don't want to be out on the excavation site, or assorting through broken pottery. I want a job where I can take my education and identify pieces and set up a exhibit collection for museums. Does anyone know what kind of nameless job I'm referring too? And what Graduate program do I need to apply too? Or if at all not any.
I've been told I want a job as a curator or registrar, but I've looked up their job descriptions and it doesn't match what I want.
I'm helpless. I want to identify the type of job I want in order to acquire a graduate program I need to be in. I don't want to be told 'Oh you should have concentrated on Museum Studies not History.'
Any advice will be great. Thanks for helping me feel a lot less freaked out.
