I have a Mazda b2200 4cyl which is locked up. The engine has a carburetor with 5 speed. I want to change the motor but 2200 engines are hard to find and when i did find them they are just too expensive. I was told that a ford ranger engine will fit the truck. Is this true? Will i have to exchange out anything else like transmission, or anything that will cost me more than just buying a mazda engine? Please help.

Ford owns Mazda and they had been making trucks for both companies since early 90's.

It used to be the other way around in the 1980's when Mazda helped Ford get into the mini truck market by making the Ford Courier.

Ford doesn't have a 2.2 liter engine, however, they have a 2.3 and 2.5 liter engines for the Ranger that you can use on your Mazda.

You will need to get the Ranger engine with the transmission because the Mazda transmission won't match.
