I recently bought the "second printing" of Better Homes and Gardens' "Easy Garden Guide: No-Fail Flowers." It has a number of garden plants, mainly flowers, of course, but nowhere in the guide can I find the flower pictured on the cover. It's a lovely purple flower with an odd look about it. The stamen are extremely pronounced, green, and they seem to be curling back on themselves. The petals, aside from being, well, purple, look a lot like leaves. The leaves themselves are actually more like a bunch of stems than actual leaves. The whole plant seems to be very pointy, all over the place, aside from the stamen. It's a gorgeous, weird little flower, and I'd like to know if I can grow it here in Louisiana. The first few pages on the inside don't have anything mentioning the cover flower from what I can see. Has anyone seen this little magazine? What type of flower is this?
