What fish can I have with my Tiger barbs?

I went to the pet store, to buy more fish, some fish that would not get bullied by my Blue gourami. So the employee told us, that Tiger barbs would be good, because they're small and tough. But she never told us they would nip fins. I found this out by researching. The gourami does not get nipped, but I ask this, is because I wanted to get more fish, and I was wondering If I could keep guppies?? Or some other colorful fish that's not to big. THanks.
I have a 20 gal tank, 1 gourami and 5 tiger barbs.

i definitely wouldn't get guppies. i don't think they would last long.

Tiger barbs are really mean. They killed a bunch of my fish!

the guppies tails would most likely get nipped. you could try getting some other types of barbs

you can not put guppies in with tiger barbs. the barbs will nip the big fins.

anything you put in the tank will have to have small fins and be compatible with the gourami and the barbs. i would suggest more research before you buy anymore fish.

don't add anything slow or with long fins like guppies. it's just a downright bad choice. Fish that small really just need to be kept with other tiny fish. No angelfish, either.

You could get some rainbowfish,(like boesmanis or turquoise ones that actually have some color) they are good at holding their own and probably wouldnt get too large for your 20 gallon.

You could try platies, but you would need to add a few, and they may still get picked on.
